Create a Connect + InMail campaign
A Connect + InMail campaign sends each prospect the outreach method their profile allows: an InMail when the profile is open and has premium, a connection request with follow-ups otherwise. Start one from campaign setup or from the play launcher, and Valley picks the method per prospect at first contact. For the general page-by-page setup, see How to Create a Campaign.
Start from campaign setup
Use this path when you are creating a campaign from your dashboard, whether your prospects come from a list, a Sales Navigator URL, or a CSV upload.
In your Valley dashboard, click Create Campaign.
On the page that asks how Valley should reach your prospects, under Reach out via, select both Connect and InMail.
Finish the rest of the setup: messaging type, product, writing style, and daily volume.
Launch the campaign.
Start from a play
Connect + InMail is available as a channel in the play launcher, so a play can launch this campaign type directly. When you launch a play, select Connect + InMail as the channel instead of a single method. For the full launch steps, see Launch a play.
How Valley picks the method
The choice happens once, at first contact. An open profile with premium gets an InMail. Every other profile gets a connection request. A profile with unknown status is deferred until Valley knows its status.
The outreach method never changes after the first message. Follow-ups always stay on the Connect path, even for a prospect who could have received an InMail.
Templates for templated campaigns
If you choose templated messages instead of AI-generated ones, the campaign needs both a Connect template and an InMail template, one for each path. You create and manage both in the Templates area; see Create and manage templates in Valley.
Set rules for each path
The campaign's Rules tab is split by method, so each path has its own rules.
Open the campaign and go to the Rules tab.
Open the Connect + Follow-ups tab to set the rules for the connection-request path.
Open the InMail tab to set the rules for the InMail path.
The Connect path is LinkedIn-only
You cannot add InMail or email steps to the Connect path. If you build an invalid path, the builder explains why it cannot be saved and will not save the campaign until the path is valid.
Which sending limits apply
Sending limits follow the first outreach step of the campaign, not the campaign's overall label. A campaign that starts with a connection request counts toward your seat's daily connection allowance, even though it also sends InMails. A campaign that starts with an InMail follows the daily InMail limit. For the current numbers, see What are sending limits for Connects and InMails.
A multichannel campaign that starts with a connection request still uses your daily connection allowance for every prospect routed to the Connect path. Plan your daily volume around the first step, not around the InMail share.
What each prospect shows after launch
Valley labels each prospect's stage by the message they actually receive, so an InMail prospect shows "InMail sent and Awaiting reply", not "Connect sent". Before Valley checks a prospect's profile, the timeline shows both possible paths. After the check, it shows only the path that prospect was assigned.
Message quality checks use the rules for the path the prospect will actually receive. In Approvals, InMail subjects that miss your InMail subject rules are flagged before sending.
