What is Valley Desktop?
Valley Desktop is the new way to connect your LinkedIn account to Valley. It runs locally on your computer and keeps your LinkedIn session on your machine without sending it to Valley's servers. It replaces the old Chrome extension.
Install Valley Desktop
Step 5 is a little tricky - follow the steps exactly.
Choose the download for your computer and install Valley Desktop.
Open the downloaded file - it will say look something along the lines of "Valley 1-0-0.dmg".
Drag the app to your application folder.
Open the Valley App in your applications.
You will see a message from Apple saying "Valley Not Opened: Apple could not verify “Valley” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy" This is NORMAL. Press "Done". DO NOT move to trash.
Go to System Settings on your computer --> navigate to Privacy & Security --> scroll to the bottom of the page - you will see "Valley" was blocked to protect your Mac. --> Press "Open Anyway". You may need to confirm the installation with Apple by typing in your password.
Open the Valley App - it will load for about 30 seconds.
Sign in with your Valley account if prompted.
Follow the in-app prompt to connect your LinkedIn account.
Once the app says connected, refresh your Valley screen.
Feel free to close the Valley Desktop once connected
Why the security warning?
Some computers show a warning the first time you open Valley Desktop because the app is not code-signed yet. Valley Desktop is safe to install and use. We are actively adding code-signing certificates, but you can use the current build with confidence now.
Auto-updates
Valley Desktop checks for updates automatically every time you open it, so you will always be on the latest version.
Troubleshooting
What if the app won't open?
If your computer blocks the first launch, use the system option to open the app anyway, then reopen Valley Desktop. If it still will not open, contact support.
Do I still need the Chrome extension?
No. Valley Desktop replaces the old Chrome extension as the way to connect your LinkedIn account to Valley.
Is my LinkedIn data sent to Valley?
No. Valley Desktop keeps your LinkedIn session on your computer and does not send that session to Valley's servers.
